Yes, children with dmd must receive calcium supplementation to avoid or treat osteoporosis.
"Until recently the doctors believed that the bone loss that occurs in DMD would be consequent of immobilization or the used of medications. Currently, osteoporosis has been observed, mainly in the lumbar column and femoral head, in the boys who still are walking and without the use of drugs that could lead to the reduction of bone mass, as steroids. Scoliosis that it also occurs in great percentage in DMD is a factor that speeds up the loss of bone mass."
" Diet must be enriched with calcium and vitamin D. Vitamin D is a necessity to improve calcium absorption in intestine and to prevent the excess of excretion through urine."

Iam lajos from Romania,My Son is 7 years old with DMD.
We known one year ago,My Son walking & playing.
We went to Ukrania twice to give Hime Stem Stell injection,so We must give Hime evry 6 monthes,We start give Hime losartan 2 monthes ago.
My question if its necessery to give Him Streoid ?

We must take some hard decisions but it's necessary. I have more afraid about stem cells than steroids. My son present several steroids side effects (deflazacort): osteoporosis, weight gain, cataract; but he had some beneficial effects: he keep walking without wheelchair until 16 years, less escoliosis, less contractures, and others; he complete the course of Journalism.

I don't have confidence to use fresh royal jelly in DMD. I need more evidence of effects - experimental studies, trials or others. Drugs that delay fibrosis can help. I don't have the full article about halofuginone.
