Hello All! Recently I saw this news on an online newspaper, regarding this Dr. Alfred T. Sapse and StemCell Pharma, but I didn't bother too much about it. It was about using amnion stem cell implant, from the placenta, he achieved muscle grow on a FSH muscular dystrophy person. An audio interview can be found here: www.transworldnews.com/NewsStory.aspx?storyid=9575&ret=news.aspx&cat=BusinessDr. David, just to help clear things up, and to avoid all this stem cell hype, I wanted to ask you if you know something about the man, and about the achievement itself. Thank ypu Marcelo

Marcelo: he promise therapy to Alzheimer, DMD, anti-aging, MS and other diseases. The most important Research Center world-wide don't can do this therapy now and Dr. Sapse can? I don't believe in Dr. Sapse. This is the first time that I see this name and this company. David

Indeed I know of someone with LGMD who went for StemCell treatment in Europe , Quite expesnive and didn't get any benefits so i understand. I looked into to having the same treatment but was pursaded not to go for it by a MD specialist over here. Its tough because whilst there are loads of things in the pipelines i understand why people would opt for treatments that haven't been proved in desperation. however i think safety is the most important thing , things may be bad now but the unknown side effects of a therapy that hasn't been proved to be safe could make things much worse!!

Hi all: this is an example of risks using cells or tissues from unknowledge sources: www.wstm.com/Global/story.asp?S=5314592&nav=2aKDWASHINGTON The booming tissue transplant industry is facing its second scandal in less than a year. This time, a leading medical firm is recalling hundreds of human tissue products destined for transplants around the nation. The tissue products were supplied by a North Carolina body parts broker who used an unsterile embalming room to carve up dozens of corpses. The F-D-A shut down Donor Referral Services last week, citing "serious deficiencies" in its processing, donor screening and record-keeping. No word on how many people received potentially contaminated tissue. Tissue that is not properly processed or poorly tested can lead to infections like hepatitis or AIDS or even death. Last year, Biomedical Tissue Services of New Jersey was accused of using stolen bodies and of shipping nearly 20-thousand potentially tainted body parts. Cadaver tissue is regularly used in operations such as back surgery and knee repairs.
